SUMMARY:Ribbon Skirt Community Project in Honour of National Indigenous History Month
DESCRIPTION:The Ribbon Skirt Community Project is an Indigenous‑led initiative bringing together the Stoney Nakoda community\, artsPlace\, and the Town of Canmore during National Indigenous History Month. \n\nLed by Stoney Nakoda artist Anna Poucette of Îkusînsân-Creations\, these free sewing workshops invite participants to learn about the cultural teachings\, protocols\, and significance of ribbon skirts while taking part in meaningful\, hands‑on reconciliation. \n\nParticipants will sew ribbon skirts that will be gifted to Indigenous women and girls who do not currently own one for ceremony or cultural events\, supporting cultural connection\, dignity\, and community care.\n\nThis project is hosted at artsPlace Canmore in collaboration with the Town of Canmore\, and generously funded by the Banff Canmore Foundation.\n\nMore: https://hasansharif.ca/events/2026-06-12-ribbon-skirt-community-project-in-honour-of-national-indigen\nSource: https://www.facebook.com/events/4356308804612063/
